Foreign body removal

Foreign body removal is a quick, safe procedure performed to extract objects that have become lodged in the ear, nose, or throat. Children are particularly prone to inserting small items into these areas, but adults may also experience incidents such as food particles stuck in the throat or insects entering the ear canal. Prompt removal prevents discomfort, infection, injury, and breathing or hearing problems.

The procedure is usually done in an outpatient or emergency setting using specialized instruments and, when necessary, local or general anesthesia for patient comfort. With expert care, most objects can be removed swiftly and painlessly, and patients can resume normal activities soon after. Early treatment also minimizes the risk of complications and ensures faster recovery.
