Micro Laryngeal Surgery (MLS) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat conditions of the voice box (larynx), such as vocal cord nodules, polyps, cysts, or other growths that affect breathing or voice quality. Using a laryngoscope and a surgical microscope, the surgeon works with extreme precision to remove or repair delicate tissues while preserving the natural structure of the vocal cords. This approach allows for excellent visualization and minimal trauma, helping to restore normal voice and airway function.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, usually on a day-care basis. Because MLS involves tiny instruments and a microscope, recovery is generally quicker and less painful than traditional open surgery. Patients are typically advised to rest their voice for a short period after the procedure and follow a tailored rehabilitation plan to achieve the best possible vocal outcome.
